I’m glad I participated in Paws in the Park last weekend I saw some amazing dogs and met some really nice people. I want to say thank you to everyone that stopped by my booth, it was a pleasure. I can’t say enough good things about this event, it was well run, well attended, and had so many fun things for people and pooches to do, if you didn’t go this year you gotta go next – I know I can’t wait to attend again. From my little corner of the park I took the opportunity to capture some cool tongue shots of pups that stopped by. You know how I love tongue shots – I get a kick out of how dog tongues expand and hang out to the side, it amuses me. {It’s silly I know, but what can I say….I guess I’m silly.} Here’s licking at you…

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER at ART UNLIMITED

I want to send a big “THANK YOU” to everyone that brought their pups to the Art Unlimited Dog Days of Summer this month, and to the Art Unlimited team Anne, Amie, Melissa, and Kristen for letting me to be a part of the event. It was mucho fun!

For those of you that didn’t attend the event this year’s Dog Days of Summer at Art Unlimited, I hope you will next year. I can’t say enough about how nice of an event this is – Art Unlimited is a great little place with a nice cheery atmosphere where you can paint pottery, create mosaics, create jewelry, and much more. If you haven’t been there yet you should go, they have pet-related items available all year long. I’m anxiously waiting to test my own creativity and make Tyson a plate and a treat jar, and as soon his allergy issues pass and his paws are better I’ll be contacting the gals at Art Unlimited to see if I can’t take him up there and do just that! I’ll be sure to post the pics of my and Tyson’s creative handy work when we’re done! :)

Hershey :: Furever Treasured

I was very saddened to get the news from Hershey’s mom that this sweet little guy left us for a better place last Monday. I met Hershey and his mom last year at Biggby Dog Days of Summer and saw them again at last month’s event which is when I snapped the below picture. At that time his mom said he was having a few issues but I sure couldn’t tell that day… he was happy, affectionate, and having a great time with all the other pups. He even jumped into the pool! My heart goes out to Hershey’s mom during this difficult time as the two of them had the most wonderful bond – I hope her memories of their beautiful life together bring her some comfort. I know that every time I think of Hershey all I see is his happy little face, his beautiful chocolate colored fur, and all the love inside of him that shined in his eyes…. and suddenly a smile comes across my face. Dearest sweetest Hershey you will furever be treasured…

We love graffiti :: Michigan Dog Photographer

Do you remember the old Deluxe Inn at 112 E. Main Street in Lansing that was all boarded up and rundown? Well it’s been transformed in to an urban artistry by graffiti artists and if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, it’s fantastic! Really…you need to go check it out for yourself, it is VERY COOL. Apparently the city allowed the building to be tagged by graffiti artists as a special project before the building’s demolition at the end of this month. I passed the site Monday on my way to a session and immediately knew I had to shoot there, yesterday I took Tyson to the site and got some urban dog images. This would be one of my favorite fun locations if it was not being destroyed at the end of the month. We need to enjoy it while it’s here. If you are interested in getting an urban image of your dog at this very cool location I will be there Thursday, Aug. 12 and Friday Aug. 13 between 6-7:30pm offering $10 mini sessions. No appointment necessary, just stop by. Money raised by these mini sessions will be donated to the Capital Area Humane Society.

Yesterday at the end of a rainy day the clouds blew away, the sun came out, and the session I was sure would be cancelled was still on. Whoot whoot! I got to the session and standing there was a cool, hip, and beautiful high school senior and a five month old bundle of fur. I could have done the happy dance right there. The session was lots of fun and the images of these two I think are pure sweetness!
